This is a space for fat folks to grieve the devastation of systemic fatphobia in our individual stories and the collective. Many cultures train us to hate the fat body before we can even speak. The world encourages EDs and treats fat people as subhuman.

This facilitated discussion group holds space for the sacred grief and rage of fat bodies reclaiming our space. It honors the roots of fatphobia in racism and ableism and holds space for the intersections of fat identity. There is space here to hold the full spectrum of emotions around living life in a fat body- celebration, reclamation, grief, pain, rage, loathing, and more. It is a container to help us hold these emotions and know we are not alone.

NOTE: This event prioritizes folks who identify as fat. This discussion uses a fat-positive lens. Fat-positive allies may join, but please be aware that this space is not intended to educate straight-sized (non-fat) folks.

Accessibility info: Virtual gatherings will use auto captions. For in-person gatherings, Grief House has a ramp connected to a sidewalk. There are different seating options that include floor cushions, 18″ wide chairs that have an 880 lb. capacity (working on getting some wider ones), yoga bolsters, and an ottoman. Single-person bathroom inclusive of all genders, 34″ width.

Grieving a Transphobic World
A space for nonbinary, trans, genderfluid, and other gender non-conforming folks to grieve the far-reaching impacts of systemic transphobia on our world.

Dates and links to register (all are on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 PM ET)
– In person: April 27, June 29, August 31
– Virtual: May 25, July 27, September 28

This is a space for trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, and other gender non-conforming (GNC) folks to grieve the devastation of the binary gender system on us as individuals and on the collective. Gender binaries are often upheld as sacred despite overwhelming evidence of gender diversity in humans and in nature. GNC folks are regularly demonized, misgendered, and restricted from accessing basic care.

This group holds space for the sacred grief and rage of GNC bodies expressing ourselves fully and unapologetically. It honors the roots of transphobia in colonialism, fascism, and more and also holds space for the pain of intersecting marginalization. Even spaces that we might think would be inclusive (such as queer or gay spaces) can be transphobic. There is space here to hold the full spectrum of emotions around living life in a GNC body- celebration, reclamation, grief, pain, rage, loathing, and more. It is a container to help us hold these emotions and know we are not alone.

NOTE: This event prioritizes folks who identify as trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, or otherwise gender non-conforming. We will be using a trans-positive lens. Allies may join, but please be aware that this space is not intended to educate cis folks.
