This month’s collective reading features Leah Pantea’s Vindur Tarot deck. The spread is: 1) how we are collectively closing out 2023 (XX Judgement), 2) how we are collectively entering 2024 (King of Swords), and 3) guidance on having the most magical 2024 possible (Queen of Swords reversed). We also had a “jumper” card, IX The Hermit reversed.

As we wrap up 2023 and assimilate our collective consciousnesses into 2024, there’s a lot of energy of coming full circle. This year had a lot of ups and downs, a lot of enlightenments and realizations. This card also makes me think of acrobatic contortions, puppetry, and the inevitable twists and swings of fate. Where did you surrender and submit to the inability to control external circumstances in 2023? What did those times teach you?

Both how we’re opening 2024 and guidance to make it our most magical year yet has a lot of emphasis on air– how we think, communicate, breathe, and socialize. We are coming into the year with a lot on our mental plates. We have the mental skills to manage it, but the Queen reversed invites us to take stock of where we might be taking on responsibilities that aren’t ours. What things are you taking on that are preventing you from anchoring yourself in the present moment and pursuing the ideas that most excite you and turn you on? Are you feeling weighed down by the realizations of 2023? Remind yourself that playfulness is one of the highest forms of enlightenment. And if imposter syndrome has you in its grasp, gently remind yourself that you don’t need to be an expert. An affirmation I’ve been working with for a while is, I have all the wisdom and knowledge I need to meet this moment

Our jumper card seconds this idea. What happens in the liminal space as we transition from the Strength card to the Hermit card? We learn how to lay down some of the coping strategies we’ve worn as armor in the Strength card, and in the Hermit we have the freedom to learn who we are without these strategies. But there’s a lot of sticky moments that happen in between these two cards. The beginning of 2024 highlights the opportunity to breathe through the sticky moments: the relapses into old patterns, the nervous system activations, the old fears, the feelings of not-enoughness. The Hermit’s embodied wisdom often comes through actually engaging with these experiences. Remember to laugh and to rest this month!

Until next time, dear readers!
